She completed her M.Ch. in Surgical Oncology from the prestigious Kidwai Memorial Institute of Oncology, Bengaluru, after completing her M.S. in General Surgery and MBBS from Alluri Sitarama Raju Academy of Medical Sciences, Eluru. Her clinical expertise includes the surgical management of gastrointestinal cancers, breast cancer, head and neck cancers, hepatopancreatobiliary (HPB) cancers, thoracic cancers, gynecological cancers, urological cancers, and soft tissue cancers.

Dr. Sowmya has performed and assisted in numerous complex oncological procedures, including breast cancer surgeries, head and neck cancer resections, gastrointestinal cancer surgeries, and soft tissue sarcoma resections. In addition to her clinical practice, Dr. Sowmya actively contributes to cancer research through publications in peer-reviewed journals and participates in academic teaching, surgical training, and multidisciplinary tumor board discussions. She is a member of leading professional organizations, including the Association of Surgeons of India (ASI), Indian Association of Surgical Oncology (IASO), American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO), and the World Association of Laparoscopic Surgeons (WALS).
